click here for map. 'Skills Area' is just above the gap between F & O of 'forest', there is a siding and gate ....
OK, the weather was lookin' rather minty for a trip to Sheffield, so we decided plan B, a trip to Delamere was in order, tho' not with much enthusiasm, 'cos after all, thats where I take the baby, in her trailer..........
DexP had been to a play area once (or he'd heard about it..), down by the canyon, so after picking up a map from the centre, cant be too careful ! Off we went...... in search of fun.
Ah ! Just off the main track, we found the 'No Brainer', a dead straight 60 degree descent, with the option of a coupla jumps to the side, Cool ! Grins all round !
On a little further we find a coupla slalom rums, down to the stream, Hmmm, Delamere is startin' to look a little better.....
It was suggested there is a little more further on, so off we pop an' lo and behold find a bit of a track bein developed by some guys from Frodsham, we have a play 'round there, I have a race with one o' the locals, 'spose it was a foregone conclusion as he was one o' the builders, but Hey ! I had him 'till I fell off !
Course builder Badger flies in at the start of Dual ....Watched by Nu Pixie & Pixie Vacant ..
Anyway, they introduce 'emselves, and ask if we've been to the other section......... No actually, but we'll have a look after........... couple more runs an' we drop to the section in question..................
HELLO ! Fantastic, loads o' routes, jumps, bumps & berms in various states of construction, big fun, NOw we are grinning ear to ear ! This is good...... Consequently spent the rest of the day there whoopin' hollerin' and gigglin' like kids as jumps are landed (an' not landed !)
No Brainer provided the adrenaline alignment before returning back to the car sated !
Badger & crew have done an outstanding job gettin' the Forestry Commission approval an' assistance and have obviously earned a few blisters shovling berms around, good effort Guys !
We'll be back !
Ahhhhh .... Cool sign....... Fantastic disclaimer.... , number 2 sez 'Make sure you have the necessary skills !' Heh !
Refresh !
Man ! I Been there so many times now, the place jus' gets better, ski jump is nailed by all, doubles sorted, but hey ! Who stole the log jump ?
This weekend, PV, me & Nu Pixie headed up there, Nu Pixie does not shrink from the task, and is TOTALLY wrapped with it, respect ! Gray (PV) is positively buzzin' with his (NP's) enthusiasm, his first newbie !
Ash (Nu Pixie) brought his own style of start routine, for dual races too... this simply consisted of 'Aye' ! No pre-amble, no countdown, just 'Aye ' !!(Hysterical ) ! Mine an' PV's total stood at 2 each, by day end... He was immensely happy with that (despite his best efforts of 'gamesmanship' ... hahahaha !)
Fabulous days riding, despite the wet and mud... (some would say that enhances it ...) Discovered another, much less used section, just to the right of the 'No Brainer' (...from the bottom, to the left from the top, & it is now marked with sprayed trees !) with some interesting holes to leap, pity we only found it as light was leaving us, so we only got a few runs at it... next time we'll session it.
But first ensure the correct safety gear is worn, pads, slippers........ slippers ??????? Must be the Pud then !!!! Nu Pixie rides the berm There's even a jump spec in the car park !
Video ...
Hey !
The trio returned again, to find ice and more work completed by the diligent Badger, there is now somethin' to play on all the way from 'No Brainer' to the big 'Skills' area, with the hill in between having been modified to incude a revised dual course an' some tasty drop-offs, so good, in fact, that Ash trashed his knee badly, on a dodgy landing resulting in him becoming 'Piccie Pixie' for the day ! Unlucky .....
Due to requests, directions to the spec will be included next update . (there is a possibility the area may become part of the NPS circuit....... watch this space)
Eyes Right !
Pixie Vacant nails the (revised !) log jump (heh!!) click here to chack the rest o' the GaFAs .....
