Origins ...... Whilst travelling to Avoriaz, on Morzine (1) trip, a van full o' Pixies (Honorary & Kosher), was in meandering conversation, when Doogle suggested the acronym. It has stuck. Well it does kinda cover basic requirements !!
News ...... Mike, of Lancaster, drove for hours to get to Nannerch, gorgeous day, big turnout, fast and furious track, gets minute and a half down his first run, leaves his bike behind, lands on his shoulder & breaks a collar bone. Worse ! we're ridin' back up for another run, laughing and pointing at him, at the top, as he's sat under a tree, shoutin' 'Have you broke a leg ?', 'course, he cant hear us, or us him, so we continue ........ Unfortunately, his car keys are in the back of my bike tank, an' we're still ridin' up an' down... eventually, we get a message, so off he pops to sunny hospital ..... Pins to come at a later op !!! Be a while b4 Mike the Spike ('cos he's always tryin' to drive himself into the ground .... Heh !) is at nannerch ..... Pixie Vacant, AkA 'Crankenstein', for his wanton destruction of cranks, 5, I think, at last count, in 2 years ...has excelled hinself ! He popped round to mine to fit his spankin' new, bright and shiney, DMR cheiftains, hopin' to get a coupla months outta them ( Heh !), apparently they're quite tough, but we'll let ya know ..... for the discovery to be made that his swing arm is cracked ...... ah well .... warranties are good on mountain cycles ...... hold up... are those forks cracked too ? Sheesh ....... I used to have the 'wrecker' handle, hat passes well and truly to PV, he's trashed more kit than a Brazillian grand prix !!!! Asn goes in for his op soon, my birthday actually, 40 .... sheesh ... :-) To rectify his prang at Delamere, last month, resulting in a reprofile of his cartlidge... good look fella ! Soon be spinnin those cranks agin.... Result ! Ash and Dean (aka Long Pixie :-) are completing the pixie compliment this week at sheffield, the 2 injured Pixies return ! Pixie Vacant will be looking to repeat last weeks outstanding ride, big moment for me was him taking the the lead over a jump on the Diamond Back....... Continueing his groundbreaking week, he went to Delamere and launched the Double on the slalom course,. Respect ! Mike the spike should be up and riding again soon. But will be making the trip to the worlds in 'Nevis at the end of the month. Apparently a few car loads are going from the Lancaster area, our plans undecided yet ! Goooooooooood day out @ Wharncliffe, top trip ! Everyone had a spill .... (vids !) Long Pixie broke the forks on his 'farthing, apparently a volvo sized rock 'jumped ' in front of him ...... whatever .....He was probably all misty eyed after going thru Stalybridge, apparently where he left his cherry in a Transit .... who said romance is dead ? Hey ! its a friction sport innit ? :-) Pixie Vacant mastered the box splits, walkin' like john wayne at the mo' !
Pixie Vacant has returned safely from his British Columbia escapades, with tales of jumps that could be considered flight, and of endless singletrack heading off into the sunset. After a cluster-fuck involving lift passes, our Innerleithen trip had to be binned, next time eh ? So we went to Betwys instead ...... (instead ? yeah, thats similar innit ??? !!!! Heh !) Me & PV decided to take our dirt jumpers, and after our climb from the campsite to the pub on sat night, were thinking twice about that logic. Pixie Puddin' was on his new improved S-Works farthing, no trouble there ...... Sunday, Marin trail, we headed off up the 'monster' climb .... after piddling against that particular fence on the way up, we have now decided the funnest bestest hardtails are dirt jumpers ! (a shout for saracens too. Top frames ! ). Up until PV broke his front wheel and redistributed the scenery, we were beating everyone on the way down too ! :-) We'll be back !
Innerleithen !! Well ! what a course, more trails than you can do in a day, well maintained, even signposted, with distance, severity & a bit of description. We went up on the saturday, rode on the sunday then came back. Loved it ! Big shout to Ed, only the second time on a mountain bike (really !!) and survived (with style ! )
Abergele (AKA 'Castle Eden' ) Fabulous find ! Me, Pixie Vacant, Matt, Joe etc had a great day out and hooked up with the builders who we'd hooked up with at nannerch a while back ...... Top job Guys !
